The ultimate in luxury or the ultimate in creepiness?

The Holiday Inn is offering a bed-warming service to guests staying at its hotels in Britain this month, but don't expect to find an electric heating pad under your sheets. Instead, through its new service, a willing member of the hotel's staff will turn down your linens, suit up in a fleece bodysuit and slip between the covers.

The hotel claims that the human bed-warmer is uniquely equipped to warm beds to the optimal temperature. Not only do the fleece jump suits contain a living, breathing human pumping out warmth, but are equipped with a thermometer so the cozy staffer knows when to stop snuggling your pillow and leave the bed perfectly heated at 20 degrees Celsius.

"The new Holiday Inn bed warmers service is a bit like having a giant hot water bottle in your bed," Holiday Inn spokeswoman Jane Bednall said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

For those of you worried about walking in on your human heater taking a nap, the hotel guarantees that staff will be fully dressed and out of your suite by the time you choose to occupy it. The hotel will not confirm whether employees will be required to shower before clambering into your bed, reports the NY Daily News, but their hair will be covered by the warming jump suit.

Dr. Chris Idzikowski, director of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, says the idea could help people get to sleep.

Speaking to the Associated Press he said: "A warm bed - approximately 20 to 24 degrees Celsius - is a good way to start this process whereas a cold bed would inhibit sleep. Holiday Inn's new bed warmers service should help people achieve a good night's sleep especially as it's taking much longer for them to warm up when they come in from the snow."
