The colonial fantasies of Francophiles will be satisfied and then some at Québec City's SAQ New France Festival (August 5 to 9). Time travel back to the 17th and 18th centuries simply by strolling through the streets of Old Québec to experience what life was like back then -- or, at, least sort of. Featuring thousands of costumed people sampling all sorts of of-the-period foods, as well as more than 500 plays, concerts and street performances, the festival kicks off August 5 at 7:00 p.m. with a massive old-school parade with larger-than-life, four-and-a-half-metre tall versions of historical figures Champlain, Capitaine Valliant, and more.
